FINE ART CANVAS

Taken against a hand-painted canvas backdrop, the use of low-key lighting creates a dramatic effect with a balance of highlights & shadows on the subject’s face

  • Our Canvas portraits are taken against a hand painted canvas backdrop to provide texture and color to your portrait.

    We use a very specific style of lighting known as "Rembrandt Lighting". This is achieved using one light to highlight the subject's face on one side while creating shadows and contrast on the opposite side. This technique draws the eye to the highlihgted areas of the eyes, nose, & lips for a subltle yet moody portrait.

    Bringing these elements together, along with our limited use of props and ornate furniture, we create a timeless and traditional work of art that doesn't seem "heavy" or "dated".
